Job description
At Seafar, we’re revolutionizing maritime technology by enabling remote control of vessels worldwide. As a Senior IT Engineer, you will be the backbone of our internal and customer-facing IT systems, ensuring seamless operations for our cutting-edge Remote Operating Centres (ROC) and Vessel Control Systems. Your expertise will directly support a fast-growing, innovative scale-up that is shaping the future of autonomous maritime operations.

What you’ll own and deliver
End-to-end IT infrastructure management for Remote Operating Centres and Vessel Control Systems — from procurement and installation to maintenance and optimization of hardware like firewalls, switches, joysticks, PLCs, UPS, screens, cabling, and satellite/4G/5G connectivity
Software installation and configuration for new and existing vessels, ensuring smooth integration and operation of critical control applications
Provide expert 2nd level IT support to operational teams (captains, operators, traffic controllers) and onboard vessel systems, troubleshooting complex technical issues in real-time environments
Support cloud infrastructure by managing Azure IaaS and PaaS deployments, configurations, and monitoring to ensure high availability and performance of critical systems
Maintain and monitor IT environments using tools such as Zabbix, PRTG, and Azure Monitoring, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation covering software usage, IT infrastructure, deployment processes, and operational procedures to ensure team alignment and operational excellence
Lead initiatives to optimize IT deployment, maintenance, and security policies aligned with the fast-paced growth and innovation at Seafar
Collaborate closely with the CTO and cross-functional teams to shape the strategic direction of Seafar’s IT landscape and support the company’s scaling ambitions
Job requirements
Does this sounds like you?
Bachelor, Master or PhD Degree in IT or a Computer Science-related subject
Experience/knowledge of Windows (Server) administration with Intune
Experience/knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g. specifically Zabbix, Azure Monitoring)
Experience/knowledge of Linux operating system
Experience with Cloud infrastructure, mainly Microsoft Azure
Cisco Certificatied Network Associate
3+ years of experience in networking
5+ years of experience in system administration and support or ICT infrastructure implementations
Affinity with software development and DevOps in a .NET & Azure environment
You like taking charge and have good communication and social skills
English should be perfect written and spoken, Dutch and French are an asset
Experience in setting-up or leading an IT team is a plus
