To support our expanding team, we’re looking for a QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment) Manager who will further shape and develop Seafar’s QHSE strategy across all our operations.
Role Description
The QHSE Manager at Seafar is responsible for developing and implementing the company-wide QHSE program. In this role, you ensure that all activities comply with relevant standards in quality, health, safety, and environment, conduct audits and inspections, and actively promote a strong safety and quality culture within the organization.
QHSE Program Development
You own compliance and conformity
Develop and implement QHSE policies, procedures, and programs.
Ensure regular updates and communicate new procedures to all team members.
Ensure compliance with all relevant quality, safety, health, and environmental regulations and standards.
Collaborate closely with the Regulatory Affairs Officer to meet regulatory requirements.
Work closely with the operation manager to ensure procedure are known and understood by the sailing team.
Find innovative solutions to align our internal safety management system with client management systems.
Monitor and evaluate QHSE performance, implementing improvements where necessary.
Conduct internal audits for quality and navigation to maintain the highest standards.
Proactively propose new processes and procedures for navigation, technical interventions, and remote operation centers.
Audits and Inspections
Plan, conduct, and follow up on internal and external QHSE audits and inspections (9001, TMSA, Compliance audit with classification societies).
Work closely with classification societies to achieve and maintain relevant certifications.
Identify and address non-conformities and potential risks.
Lead and follow up on major operational risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, etc.).
Prepare detailed audit reports and track corrective actions through completion.
Risk Management
Perform ad hoc risk analyses for specific projects, including those involving reduced crew or autonomous vessels.
Conduct incident analyses and prepare reports using methodologies such as flow process analysis and 5-Why analysis.
Report incidents promptly and communicate with customers when required.
Serve as a Prevention Advisor, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement across all workplaces.
Training and Awareness
Train and onboard new employees on QHSE policies and best practices.
Develop training materials for onboard crews and remote-controlled vessel operations.
Support and design QHSE training programs for customers managing their own Remote Operation Centres.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and environmental awareness throughout the organization.
Stakeholder Communication
Communicate QHSE policies, performance, and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
Represent the company at industry events, such as maritime fairs and OCIMF meetings.
Engage with PZI, peers, and clients to promote safe and compliant remote-control operations.
Occasionally visit client sites, seafaring vessels, and Remote Operation Centers (ROC).
Translate regulatory requirements into actionable internal processes and procedures.
Coordinate with regulatory bodies and other relevant organizations.
Prepare and submit QHSE reports and documentation as required.
Traffic Control and Operations Support
Support remote sailing and remote operation center activities.
Act as a traffic controller during testing, trials, and commissioning phases.
Job requirements
Proven experience in the maritime sector or inland shipping in a similar QHSE position.
In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and TMSA standards.
Familiarity with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 27001 (Information Security) is highly appreciated.
Experience with tanker vessels is a strong advantage.
Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Prevention Advisor Level 3.
